The Mindset to Positive Affirmations

Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. They help purify our thoughts and restructure the dynamic of our brains so that we truly begin to think nothing is impossible. These simply are positive reminders or statements that can be used to encourage and motivate yourself or others. Simple example of affirmations that we have already heard of are – I can and I will; Nothing is Impossible; You are Amazing; I feel good and plenty more!

These can be as small as just a word or two words or can be as long as you would like your affirmations to be. However, it is suggested and we also believe that it is best to keep affirmations generic, simple and short. Let your affirmations be all truth and positive.

How to write an affirmation?

If you are beginning your journey with Affirmations, you can simply look up the term or specific terms such as ‘Affirmations for Abundance’ or ‘Affirmations for love’ on the Internet. However, we would always recommend you to write your own affirmations. The simple reason behind it is that they will always be your words (even if they are inspired words) and you have a better connection with those words than the ones you pick up off the internet.

We have a few tips that can be considered while writing your affirmations (or you may use the same to find yourself an affirmation) –

  • They should be simple.

For this, we recommend you to find your actual desire. For instance, ‘I will travel in the ABC Cruise from Australia to Singapore in September after my results.’ Believe it or not, this is an affirmation but this is also a wish. Now could we simplify the same to – ‘I love to travel on a Cruise’, or better still ‘I love traveling’ or ‘Traveling is fun’.

Let us understand the difference. When we say – ‘I love traveling’ or ‘Traveling is fun’, we are using the statements for two purposes at the same time –

  1. They help us fill up with positivity and good thoughts about traveling. We tend to see the enjoyment and the good times we had while traveling. If used by someone who gets troubled by traveling, they will start to see the positive experiences and in turn start attracting more positive experiences. Hence, Traveling will be fun for all times to come.
  2. Remember, the Law of Attraction is always at work! Even if we repeat these words just once a day, we are telling the Universe something. Saying something very specific might get our wish misinterpreted or we may end up with something we did not wish for. It could also be the case that we might not be ready for the specific wish like the ABC cruise or the Cruise is not ready for us. Asking for something generic such as Travel – there are thousands of other opportunities to travel. Telling the Universe that we are open for them will let us reach them faster.

  • NO Conditions Applied!

The affirmations can not be conditional. ‘I am enough until I am not’ – is not an affirmation. You are just confusing yourself as well as the Universe. Break the above into two parts – ‘I am enough‘ and ‘I am better each day‘.

  • Always true

Affirmations should be always true. An affirmation like ‘I am in love in 2021’ is going to wire the minds to think that 2022 or any other year is not meant for love. ‘I am love‘ is a positive and better alternative. Making the affirmations always true also give us space to grow. For instance, ‘Money flows to me from plenty of sources’ is better than ‘I have two sources of income’ since the first one gives you a chance to try new ventures and monetize them as well. In the later one, there is a limit and will hinder growth beyond that.

Remember: Affirmations are simple words. Words that we repeat to ourselves. And once we start believing in them, they change the way we think and we the world… in turn bringing new opportunities and avenues for us!

  • Positive Affirmations

Final pointer and the most significant one! Affirmations need to fill us with happiness and joy. In no foreseeable future, should the affirmations have any sort of negative impacts. For instance – ‘I will find the love I deserve’ suggests that either you have not found love or the love you have, you do not deserve it. It may be soothing to someone right now but in the long run if the person encounters someone who is not their right match, their thoughts are filled with the words that they do not get the right love or they get the experiences that they do not deserve. Both are extremely negative. Think positive – ‘I love the people in my life – the ones who make me stronger and the ones who stay with me throughout!

Yes, if someone just reads about an affirmations, it seems to be just words but phew! so many points to remember! And yes, they do make a difference – a huge difference in fact.

The Mindset to Positive Affirmations

Now that we have found ourselves an affirmation (feel free to have more than one), we need to understand the right Mindset for Affirmations. This is as important as the words, if not more!

Imagine having a song stuck in your head but not being able to listen to the song. Imagine opening your favorite novel to read but instead finding a textbook printed inside the novel covers. Or imagine opening this article to find out about affirmations but instead reading a poem.

We may hear several great songs that we totally love but if there is a song stuck in our head and we are not able to listen to that particular song, the other songs lose their flavor. It is difficult to read a textbook when you were looking for a story. And no poem can be beautiful enough if it devours your chance to read something you wanted to read.

Same is true about mindset. If you have just had a fight with your boss, a positive affirmation such as ‘I am good at my work‘ will not help. Your mind is filled with negative points about your workplace and other negative noises. The first step here is to calm yourself.

Golden Rule: Never say a positive affirmation if you feel your mind is filled with any kind of negative emotion.

This is simply because we are here depending on and harnessing the power of words. If positive words come in a negative environment, they become less positive. They will not help you to reach your maximum potential at that point in time. This might also impact your thoughts to think that these words are powerless. Slowly and at a sub-conscious level you may lose your faith in them and then they lose their power. Not a situation we would want anyone to be in.

The simplest thing you could do when experiencing negative emotions is nothing. Force yourself to do nothing and think nothing. Negative thoughts have a tendency to multiply really fast but they die out very fast as well if they could not find anything to ruin. If we do nothing, they get nothing to feed on and hence, they die!

You may choose to listen to a song or watch a movie or try some activity that has a potential to calm you. Do not engage yourself with any kind of words. Do not write anything. Do not listen to affirmations. Do not say affirmations. Do not say any words that could possible harm you. Remember, the Law of Attraction is always at work!

If you are a little bit experienced with the Law of Attraction and Affirmations, there is another technique you might want to try to calm yourself. Saying neutral affirmations! For instance, **true story** Since April 2021, I have been dealing with a lot of physical illnesses or problems. Nothing serious but just as one thing dies down, another arises. It has been four months since April and so far – I have had Covid-19, bleeding nose for days, severe allergy, veins bursting under my skin, hurting my knee, big acne, extremely dry skin and hormonal imbalance. Even if it sounds serious – none of it was. Just a few medicines and I never even felt slight pain.

It is funny now that I think of it but initially it was a little frustrating. It felt like one thing is over and than in another 2-3 days a new thing arises. At this point in time, with still some scars, it is not possible for me think or say an affirmation like ‘I am in the best of my health‘ but I do say everyday morning to myself in the mirror ‘Nothing bad can stick with me for long. I am stronger than they will ever be!‘ Now it is a sort of a personal joke (which is now on the Internet, so no longer personal) that whenever a new symptom or problem arises, I ask the problem – how long could you last?

All words said and done, I sincerely hope and wish that you find beautiful affirmations to make your life even more amazing! Wishing you lots of heath, love, abundance and success!
