FRIENDS :: The One Where They Get Back Together

Spoiler : I just saw the FRIENDS Reunion Episode for the second time.

Caution : Hey, even if you have never heard of FRIENDS, don’t worry.. this is not about the show. But honestly tell me, how could you NOT have heard of the Show? Not seeing it – Well, This is one of the blessings I got from COVID-19 and I have myself seen it now. The show is a good and indeed really good show but I am still not a part of the FRIENDS cult. So, please dont hunt me or feel bad if you havent seen it yet! Though, if you need something to watch, it is a good one!

What I need to tell about the Episode

It was beautiful! It was funny and nostalgic. It was an episode made for the cast and creators rather than the audience. And I would say that it was long due! People who worked hours every week trying to create content to make people smile and enjoy themselves, should be cherished. And it was a mission accomplished.

I truly agree that you go anywhere in the world and you talk to anyone (except my parents maybe… but they havent seen any other series either – in their defense), they have heard of FRIENDS. Despite being an American sitcom, showing a lot American situations and responses but the show is loved and accepted by people all over the world. This is just because of one simple reason that I can think of – the creators and cast genuinely felt like the way the characters. They believed in the lives of these six people, their stories and their friendship! That reflected… and thus, whoever understands friendship, understands the show.

For this unscripted episode, I felt that friendship and emotion come out manifolds. These were 6 actors and all other crew living their lives and living the lives of the 6 people on the show. They were together double the time and sharing two lives and so much more love together. This is what makes this episode so beautiful!

What was I looking forward to in the Episode

I love Chandler. I just dont love Chandler with Monica. It will always be Monica and Richard. I was so looking forward to see Richard.

The even more amazing thing to see was how he and all other people who played smaller but significant parts on the show come up.

What I want to say about the show

I disagree with Jennifer Anniston and Lisa Kudrow. FRIENDS is not the 236 episodes they created or this one episode. They might not film more episodes but FRIENDS is always going to stay. With every passing year, newer generations are going to become old enough to watch the show, appreciate it, become fans and then start requesting another reunion.

There is never too late for a reunion. Yes, if it were a monthly thing, I think that charm would probably fade a little – especially since this isnt an episode technically. But we can always have where Ben meets Emma and the Bing Twins. Their lives in similar patterns could be revealed.

Also, who would say no to a possibly another reunion say 15 years later?

What else do I want to say?

Find your friends. Even if you dont talk everyday or live together – find them, call them and tell them how important they are. They will possibly just do something funny or make fun of you for being emotional and sensitive all of a sudden. But do it! They make so many things worth it. Friends are the family we choose and grow with, without judgement and with lot of support, comfort and fun times!

Also, if you havent seen FRIENDS, go see it – you might not be able to see it all in one go (I wasnt) but its something good to see. Don’t miss out.
