It is important to be a ‘Princess’

There is a teen movie called – Princess Protection Program. It is a Disney Channel original movie which stars Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez in pivotal roles. Now this post is not about the movie and hence no spoilers. There is just one thought from the movie that has stuck with me so far. So in the movie Demi Lovato is playing a princess in hiding whereas Selena is playing a normal girl who is in the house where the princess is hiding. Selena’s character teaches Demi’s character to be a regular teenager and Demi Lovato’s character teaches Selena’s character to be more self assured. During one scene, Demi Lovato…

    House to Home and Back

I never liked my current place of residence. It is a ground floor kind-of-independent house. To give it that kind-of-independent feel, there are a lot of doors. And my mother likes a lock on all of them. This is one of the major reasons I never like this place. It made me feel very cut off from the world. Don’t get me wrong here. I am not an outgoing person but I do love the noise. The constant reminder of not being alone. The constant acknowledgement that the change is just one step away. But here, inside my house, its very quiet. I seldom hear cars or any other traffic.…

    Dogs and Us

With the Corona Pandemic taking over the world, we have all just one topic to discuss. For the first time in a long time, families are together – even if they are forced to be. The show they are watching on television doesnt matter, what matters is that there is at least one show that they all are seeing together. This is definitely one of the beautiful blessings we all have received amidst this Pandemic; other being that now that people have time, they are thinking about themselves – taking care, fixing their problems or thinking of what life they want after all this is over. For me, I am…

    ‘Little’ Faith

Tuesdays are a big deal. Tuesdays are pretty auspicious. All the days are associated with a deity and Tuesdays come to be associated with Lord Hanuman. Lord Hanuman is believed to himself be an incarnation of Lord Shiva sent to help overcome troubles laid in the path of Lord Rama, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Like million others, my parents visit the nearby Lord Hanuman temple. Some days I go along. Today in the temple I saw an olderly couple stand in the queue. Well, its Tuesday. Everyone wants dedicated time with Lord Hanuman. So there is naturally a queue. There are bhajans being played on speaker and everyone is…

    The Secret Effect

The Secret is a book I have owned for more than four years. It is a special one for it was the first book that I bought from my salary. Now just to emphasize how big a deal this is – I humbly accept I am a miser. There are just three places I don’t mind spending – Book Fairs/ Bok Shops, movie tickets and anything for my family members. Again movies are something my mother enjoys. Hence, officially books are the only thing I deeply, truly and inexplicably love and that I spend abundantly for. I clearly remember – I was attending training for my first job in Gandhinagar.…
