Dogs and Us
With the Corona Pandemic taking over the world, we have all just one topic to discuss. For the first time in a long time, families are together – even if they are forced to be. The show they are watching on television doesnt matter, what matters is that there is at least one show that they all are seeing together. This is definitely one of the beautiful blessings we all have received amidst this Pandemic; other being that now that people have time, they are thinking about themselves – taking care, fixing their problems or thinking of what life they want after all this is over. For me, I am…

‘Little’ Faith
Tuesdays are a big deal. Tuesdays are pretty auspicious. All the days are associated with a deity and Tuesdays come to be associated with Lord Hanuman. Lord Hanuman is believed to himself be an incarnation of Lord Shiva sent to help overcome troubles laid in the path of Lord Rama, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Like million others, my parents visit the nearby Lord Hanuman temple. Some days I go along. Today in the temple I saw an olderly couple stand in the queue. Well, its Tuesday. Everyone wants dedicated time with Lord Hanuman. So there is naturally a queue. There are bhajans being played on speaker and everyone is…

The Secret Effect
The Secret is a book I have owned for more than four years. It is a special one for it was the first book that I bought from my salary. Now just to emphasize how big a deal this is – I humbly accept I am a miser. There are just three places I don’t mind spending – Book Fairs/ Bok Shops, movie tickets and anything for my family members. Again movies are something my mother enjoys. Hence, officially books are the only thing I deeply, truly and inexplicably love and that I spend abundantly for. I clearly remember – I was attending training for my first job in Gandhinagar.…

Swacch Bharat Abhiyaan
No this post is not about promoting the government policies or berating a man’s heroism. Let me make it clear before beginning – our Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not always the Prime Minister and he will not always be the Prime Minister. India was India before Narendra Modi was born and it will continue to be India even when he is not around. Yes, some people do make a great impact. I also agree that Narendra Modi is one of those few. However, he cant do anything alone. I would be lying if I said that we are too great. No we are not. There are hundreds of things…

No one killed Surpanakha !!!
To all the activists – I am not talking about exploiting any human, female or any other species living or dead on the planet. The subject is more or an exclamation! I have watched Ramayana quite a few times recently – yes I accept that I am quite obsessed with it at the moment. I am really enjoying the portrayal that was filmed by Sagar films in 1980s. For some reason, Ramayan is able to stir quite a few emotions in me that I had not previously known. I learn to be subtle and sober. I learn to calm myself even in the adverse of situations. I learn to take…

Why diets are totally unsuccessful in Delhi
Let me begin by not offending anyone – Delhi is definitely filled with dieticians and other nutritionists who would definitely be lovely and effective. I am just here to tell you my story – how I lead a very average (and dull) life and yet the biggest challenge of my life is following my diet. Let me start with my day – I wake up every morning at 6:00am (unfortunately). I stay lazily in bed for five-seven minutes and once I have sufficient conscience, I go to freshen up. By around 6:50am, I am all fresh and ready. At that moment, my mother would bring me breakfast. This would normally…

Gol gappe for men
Gone are the days when someone (some male) can surely say that women love Gol Gappas. Well ofcourse we do!! But eventually men have also discovered the flavour and goodness. To give a little background – gol gappas are quite popular dish in India. They are found in all states, Union Terretories and Islands (atleast on all I have been to) of India. They are called by a variety of names – Pani Puri, Gol Gappe, Pani ke Batashe, Gup Chup, Puchka, amongst the popular few – depending on the geographical location. The preparation varies slightly as well depending on the preferred taste of the region. Basically, you need to…

I don’t understand abuses
I totally agree that abusing someone gives so much satisfaction. Even better when I am a girl – who is supposed to not even know such words. Don’t judge me if I abuse – this is required to interact with people who understand only that language. You see – communication is two way. However I seriously discourage abusing otherwise. That is the worst you can do. Coming onto the topic – I really don’t understand abuses. What is the matter with fucking? Just take a relative, add fucking and voila – you get an abuse. People grow up!! Take a personal tip from me – don’t use these words. Explain…

Python and the Boa Constrictor
I had a real weird day at work yesterday. I am stuck doing this piece of code that simply refuses to get into my head. I also have this deadline before which I need to complete the code and deliver since I will be on vacation next week. To add to all this, there are other things in Python that I want to try out and simply not getting sufficient time to do so. This time crunch has been running for over a week now. Sorry – I am not complaining.. this is something I can manage. What I cant is – while I am busy with my Muggle things,…

A little drama is required
Being an Indian, I can totally bet that you can just never get enough of drama. You may hate it yet you can’t escape it. I think that we are wired in a way that from time to time, we do need to refill our drama quotient. Of course it takes different amount of time for different persons for the drama quotient to get empty. Someone’s drama quotient may last for one month while someone else’s may last just a week. Don’t get me wrong here. I am not saying that Indians do not appreciate good cinema. On the contrary, drama is probably the least appreciated genre of cinematic content…
